We were you. Excited for our first float.

Where do we want to float - Arkansas or Missouri? Which rivers are in Arkansas and Missouri? What about campgrounds? Which Outfitter should we use? Canoe or Kayak? How long will our float be? Will we float by any natural springs?

So there we were, sitting at home, sifting through countless number of websites to determine where and when we should float, if the river levels were even navigable, which campgrounds were nearby, figuring out which Outfitters had boats available for us to rent, and what the weather conditions looked like. Multiply that by three or four rivers, and we finally settled on the Buffalo River in Arkansas.

Overwhelmed was an understatement. Why was picking a location so stressful? Couldn't we easily settle on a location and camp at the first place we came across? No. There was more to it than that. We didn't realize how far in advance Outfitters book their Canoes and Kayaks. The Outfitters were extreamly helpful with local information: river levels, best spots to float, sites to see, as well as fishing tips such as what the fish were currently biting.

The more float trips we went on, the more we realized how time-consuming and tiring it was to research information on where and when to float, Outfitters to use, campgrounds to stay, fishing regulations, and all other camping and floating needs. So now, after our eighth float (and camp) trip, we decided to create Ozark Floating.

Who We Are

     We are an avid outdoors couple who discovered our love for float trips in 2014. We enjoy the aspects of exploring new places, seeing new sights, nature, wildlife, road trips, camping, campfire cooking, fishing, and hunting. It is our goal to float all navigable rivers and streams in the Missouri and Arkansas Ozark regions. Our mission is to spread our love for the outdoors by helping you decide which streams to float, places to camp, Outfitters to use, fishing information, and any other needs so that you can spend less time researching and more time adventuring.
