The most spring-fed river in Missouri.
The Current River is a class I/II river located in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas. It flows 184 miles from Montauk State Park in Dent County, Missouri to the confluence of the Black River in Pocahontas, Arkansas in Randolph County. It is part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, which is the first national park area to protect a river system. The Current River is known to be the most springfed river in the state, with hundreds of freshwater springs and caves, making this river floatable all year round. The Jacks Fork is the most well-known and largest floatable tributary of the Current River, nearly doubling the river in size. The Current River is most known for its towering dolomite bluffs, caves, cold & clear blue springs, gravel bars, crystal-clear water, deep pools, swift currents, Rainbow & Brown Trout, wild horses, black bears, historic sites, trails and more.
